The dog days of summer means it’s hot, humid, and camp season. Today, the dead period begins which means no unofficial visits, face-to-face contact, and only the player can text/call the coach. We wrap up an eventful weekend with Moore pledging his undying love for all things Texas, Watkins and UT mutually parting ways, and the Pylon 7-on-7 Championships in D/FW. Throughout this century, Texas has been able to pick up more than a handful of 5-star prospects to play in burnt orange at the Erwin Center. Before freshman Mohamed Bamba’s recent decision, former Horn and the Brooklyn Nets’ 22nd overall pick Jarrett Allen was the next 5-star, one and done talent, destined to lead Texas to relative success thanks to his elite skill level.

Despite substandard results on the hardwood from the Longhorn basketball program in the last five seasons, they continue to thrive on the one night the NBA holds its amateur draft.

That Texas tradition continued tonight when freshman center/forward Jarrett Allen was selected by the Brooklyn Nets with the 22nd overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.
